Repair, full recoat, or replace - which one do you need?
These three get mixed up, so here is the difference. Repair-and-coat is the most common path: the slab itself is sound, but it has cracks, pits, or open joints, so those get fixed as part of prep and then the floor is coated. A full recoat is for a floor that already has a coating which is failing - peeling, bubbling, hot-tire pickup, or flaking off. You cannot just add a layer on top of a coating that is letting go, so the failed coating comes up, the slab gets re-prepped, and it is recoated the right way. Replacement is the rare case. If the slab is heaving, has deep structural cracking, or is breaking apart, no coating fixes that and the concrete itself has to be addressed first.
